Emily Couch is a freelance journalist, researcher, and analyst specializing in Eastern Europe and Eurasia with bylines in publications such as Foreign Policy, The Moscow Times, and the Index on Censorship magazine. 

Based in Washington, D.C., she has over six years of project and grant management experience with democracy support and human rights organizations including the McCain Institute, Freedom House, PEN America, and the National Endowment for Democracy.

She holds a double Master's degree from University College London in Eastern Europe and Eurasia Studies, as well as a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from King's College London.

She speaks English, Russian, French, and Spanish.
